Cicaplast, Cicalfate, XeraCalm… which repair balm to choose?

After irritation, laser or an eczema flare, everyone ends up asking « Cicaplast or Cicalfate? ». Both work — but not the same way depending on texture tolerance and barrier state. Here's how they place in real reviews.

Updated on 12 June 2026 · Ranking based on 5 balms compared

Our methodology

  • Repair balms and creams (Cicaplast, Cicalfate, XeraCalm, Lipikar…)

Frequently asked questions

Red, burning irritated skin: which first?

Fragrance-free formula with panthenol or copper-zinc. Cicaplast Baume B5 and Cicalfate+ come up most often — patch test a small area if very reactive.

Repair balm or daily moisturiser?

Balm for emergency phases or very dry skin. Daily moisturiser is enough the rest of the time. No need for Cicaplast every day if skin is fine.

How do you rank them?

Tolerance first, hydration second. Reviews mostly describe whether the product actually calms or feels suffocating / filmy.
